Meet the Inkspired Ladies

Heyyyy! Just a Georgia peach out here juggling motherhood and my ever-growing book obsession. I started seriously reading a couple years ago—mainly to escape these kids, bless their little hearts! But now, chile, I’m hooked, head over heels in love with my authors and their drama-filled worlds. Catch me hiding from my responsibilities, nose deep in a book, whispering, 'Mama needs her me-time!

By day, I champion mental health and social work, infusing education with heart and humor. My passion for reading ignited around the age of nine and has been a lifelong adventure ever since—opening doors to new worlds and ideas. When I’m not immersed in a great book, I’m off jet-setting or whipping up culinary delights, each journey and meal a vibrant chapter in my ongoing story.

Shannon’s been in her book bag for over 20 years—started that summer library hustle at 13, stuffing her backpack like groceries on sale. One flip through Sister Souljah’s The Coldest Winter Ever had her locked into that urban‑fiction life for good. As an OG founder of the Coast2Coast Readers Book Club, she was building squad goals before “BookTok” was even a thing. After a quick “let me catch a vibe” hiatus, she bounced back on her TBR grind with digital journaling on fleek and extra sass to spare. Now she’s on a mission to uplift the flyest urban narratives, women’s fiction, romance, and those phenomenal Black authors rewriting the script.

Wanna see what Auntie Shannon’s reading next? Slide into her BookTok feed and let her serve you some lit recs—no cap.

Books are my sanctuary and my ticket to new horizons, sparking joy, laughs, and those “aha” moments that keep me grinding. Through pages, I’ve met incredible people from coast to coast—fellow book lovers who remind me that no matter where you’re from, the love of a good read connects us all. Pull up a chair, grab your favorite drink, and let’s get Inkspired together.

Family First, Fire Always

The Inkspired Effect

Family First, Fire Always was my first event I attended, despite being in the industry for well over a decade. As someone who is often shy around others or when I have to sell myself to others as an author, I was extremely comfortable at this event. From the comforting spirit of each event organizer and host, to the small, intimate environment that this event held, I was (and still am) thoroughly impressed. These ladies did not miss a beat with the entire event. They all assured that each author needed for nothing and was not overwhelmed. When it came to staying true to the theme of the weekend, they did not miss. The decor was gorgeous and fit the theme to a tee. For this to have been the first event put together by the InkSpired and Specs and Book Recs team, they did an amazing job. Even if I never attend another event, I will always be sure to support these ladies and their events because I know and can assure it will be an all around great experience~
